Pieces of the Astrology Puzzle
There are numerous elements that go into a full astrological reading for a person. There are celestial bodies, aspects, houses, and elements. Let’s take a look at each of them and how they relate to astrology and predications.
Celestial Bodies
The Sun
The Sun represents a person’s ego which is the centre of a person’s identity. It is what helps a person integrate into the world around them and gives continuity to their experiences in life. The sun in a reading reveals the character of a person, what he or she is trying to achieve in life, and how their drive and ambition is directed to achieve that goal. It also reveals why some people are daredevils and look for those high adrenalin activities and why some people are not. The house in which the sun was placed when a person was born also indicates the main area of expression for a person in their life. This is probably the most important and prominent area of a person’s individual reading.
The Moon
The moon is a reflection of a person’s personal life. It is a direct representation of the day-to-day, hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute movements, preoccupations, and the many adjustments a person makes in their daily life. This is the inner, emotional, and unconscious aspect of a person, everything that is shaped by their environment including family and friends, events, and other social factors. It also indicated how a person responds to their life as a result of their habits, experiences, heritage, and collective instincts that have been learned over the years. The moon reveals how a persons mind operates in its instinctive and imaginative sections, how they express their feelings, and what people are drawn to for comfort, and emphasizes a persons general characteristics of their unique personality. The moon is a person’s past, how they developed, what they have done, and how it has influenced a person throughout their life.
Mercury
Wit the sun and moon being a person’s identity and personal life, Mercury is a person’s mental life. It reveals how a person receives, processes and disseminates the information bombardment a person deals will every day. It shows a person’s basic attitude, mental habits, scope of vision, and how they accomplish tasks. It also deals with short trips, aspects of a person’s immediate environment and their siblings.
Venus
Venus is the planet of love and reflects a person’s loving and side and how they express it. It is also the planet of harmony and the arts as well as social settings. It influences a persons approach to their many partnerships and relationships and how they will adjust to promote a strong, loving relationship. Depending on where Venus is placed in a person’s astrological chart at the time of birth determines how a person shares their loving nature with others.
Mars
If a person ever wondered where their desire and will comes from, all they need to do is look to the red planet. Mars reveals how a person aims their goals, and how they power themselves to achieve it. Person’s most basic passions are represented by Mars as well as how and to what extent these passions are involved with a person’s everyday life. Where Mars is located at a person’s birth determines the nature of a person’s assertions.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the planet in charge of the order of creation. It shows a person where they are in the most control and feel the most confident, what their values are, and if a person feels as if they had something to teach. This king of planets also rules a person’s religious beliefs, their philosophical outlook on life, where a person feels luckiest, higher education goals, and long-distance travel affairs.
Saturn
Known as the taskmaster of the zodiac, Saturn makes a person recognize their obligations, fears, and in what aspects a person will fell restricted. While rewarding discipline, perseverance, and hard work, this planet will also make sure a person knows where they have to work hard to obtain the things they want. The things in a person’s life that make them feel restricted are determined by where Saturn is when a person is born. Responsibility is the biggest of Saturn’s facets.
Uranus
The first planet in our solar system that cannot be seen without a telescope, Uranus is the representation of the sky in everyone, transcending the limits of this mortal life. It reveals a person’s originality, unconventionality, and an individual’s expression. It stimulates sudden change or a new way of doing things that may not have been considered before. It is the freedom within a person striving to get out and the need to express higher consciousness in life.
Neptune
The planet that represents our constant reaching for perfection, Neptune rules the oceans. It is a person’s unconsciousness and is the ruler of dreams. It is a person’s connection to the culture and environment a person lives in and will reveal the area in a person’s life in which they will work in an effort to move forward. It is a direct connection and subtle use of a person’s personality in the world around them.
Pluto
Pluto is the darkest part of a person. It is what allows a person to change the most basic parts of ones inner nature, and it reflects the obsessive, compulsive, and committed facets of a person and how they express it. It is the planet that expresses the deepest part of the unconscious and the way it is linked in their personality make-up.
Special Points and Asteroids
Midheaven
Represented on the astrological chart on the cusp of a person’s tenth house, this represents a person’s career, reputation, and how they deal with authority. It also represents a person’s life path.
North and South Node
The north and south nodes are mathematical points on the moon that account for the way the sun, moon, and earth interact when a person is born. They reveal a person’s karmic imbalance and what they have to do grow spiritually. It also shows people natural qualities, what ones are over-developed, and how people fall back on them. All of these need to be equal across the nodes in order for a person to be balanced.
Chiron
The comet Chiron has an erratic orbit and reveals people’s deepest wounds, and how they try to heal the wound. It also shows what healing power each person carries as a result of their own wounds and how they were healed. People with Chiron influencing their astrological charts will find that they may have to face their own feelings of low self-esteem and rise above them before they can help someone else.
Vertex
The vertex is sometimes referred to as the third angle of an astrological chart. It is located on the right hand side and represents where the ecliptic and prime vertical cross. It is not always used in astrological readings, but when it is, it is considered a point of wish fulfilment. It usually is found at major turning points in a person’s life and usually has to do with significant relationships, beginnings and endings, and birth and death.
Part of Fortune
Sometimes called Fortuna, this is considered a sensitive point on an astrological chart and is found by adding two planets or points, and subtracting a third. Part of Fortune is a person’s worldly success, the physical body, and health. The placement of a person’s ruling planet at their birth must be factored in when interpreting this facet of a horoscope.
Eros
Another asteroid that can affect a person’s chart, Eros represents a person’s sexual side and love. It is the sexual objectification, passion, desire, and creativity. Note that Eros is not also sexual in nature, because creative passions have nothing to do with sex. Areas in which a person is most passionate can be found on their chart by the presence of Eros.
Juno
The last of the asteroids that can influence a person’s astrological report is the indicator of what kind of marriage partner they will need and will get. This is not the partner a person wants, but who they need on a fundamental level.
Sun/Moon Midpoint
A highly personal point, it is halfway between the sun and moon. It represents a person’s desire to have a companion and their close personal relationships. It is a big point in any astrological report that analyzes and type of relationship.
