Houses, Transits & Elements

Houses

As mentioned earlier, a person’s astrological chart is divided into twelve houses. Each of these houses represents a different aspect of a person’s life. When combined with the sun sign, all of the other combinations of the zodiac, and a person’s birth time, an accurate picture of a person can be painted.

The first house is how a person appears to the world, the first impression they make upon others, and their self-identity. It’s a person’s external appearance including things such as their body type, their facial features, and the way they dress among other things. The second house is a person’s resource, including money and possessions, and how a person relates to both.

The third house is a person’s environment. It involves how they communicate with others, how they interact with their neighbours and siblings, and how short trips will go. The fourth house also involves with the way a person relates to people, in this case, their family, their childhood, roots, and maternal influences in their family.

House five deals with a person’s creativity, inspiration, and self-expression. It also takes into account how people invest in themselves, the risks they are willing to take in life and love, how they interact with children, and, quite simply, their luck. The sixth house is a reflection of people’s daily life, health, work, and personal sacrifice.

The seventh house is a person’s identity in their relationship to others, whether they are dominant, submissive, or a nice combination of both. It also deals with dating, marriage, partnerships of any kind, and anything dealing with contracts. Hand in hand with seven, is house eight. The eighth house deals with the sexual side of a person’s relationships. It also deals with how a person reacts to others resources, how they hand death, inheritance, transformation, and the ability to bounce back. It also deals with any form of rituals and what they mean to a person.

The ninth house of a person’s astrological chart reflects a person’s long-distance travel, higher education goals, philosophy, law, and publishing. The tenth deals with the relationship a person has to authority and power. A person’s reputation, career, and social status are covered here. As the fourth house covers maternal influences, the tenth covers paternal influences, which include authority figures and governmental institutions.

Eleven is the house of friends and how a person connects to people in general. It reflects people’s associations, hopes and dreams, ideals, and any honours they may have received. The twelfth house is a person’s connection to the heavens and spirituality. It is their dreams, the music they love, and things that deal with the unconscious mind. Twelve represents all that is hidden and the karmic quest a person is on throughout their life.

Transits

Transits are where the planets are aligned and angled on a given date on a person’s astrological star chart. These combinations could show harmony or challenges, and how long this condition will last, and what affect they may have on the person. These transits can change throughout the course of a day with the alignment of a planet, making a person seem to be contradicting themselves when in reality they are not. Everyone needs to remember when reading these reports that they need to use common sense to make it all fit.

There are five transits: sextile; trine; squares; oppositions; and conjunctions. Sextile, which is a sixty degree angle, and trine, a one hundred twenty degree angle, deal with the harmonious flow of a person’s energy. People should take advantage of these two transits because they are almost always pointing to something positive. Squares, which are ninety degree angles, represent difficulty and discipline in order to reach a goal. If a person is persistent, they can overcome a square transit.

Oppositions – 180 degree angle in a person’s chart – are the challenges to people’s relationships. These can be positive or confrontational, which can cause separations. This transit is what can hide something that a person needs to deal with, but is unable to see at the time. Conjunctions, which are zero degrees, can go any way depending on which two planets are joining at the time. This would be a combination of the planets traits, making the transit interesting depending on what a person is dealing with.

There are other transits which fall under the category of aspects in astrological terms. Aspects show the relationship between the two celestial bodies or sensitive points, and they describe the combination of traits between them both.

Elements

The last piece of the astrological puzzle is the elements. Everyone knows these: earth; wind; fire; and water. These elements are the temperament and orientation of each zodiac sign. When combined with the elements of the celestial body, a person’s sun sign, and all the other things to be considered, it is the final piece needed to give a person their full astrological view of themselves.

Fire is the most basic of elements and it people’s enthusiasm. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are Fire signs. Air is abstract thought. Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are air signs. Both of these elements are centered on the self and these people are extroverted, optimistic, active, and independent.

Earth covers the practical and material concerns of a person, and is represented by Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Water reflects feelings and empathy, and Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are all water signs. These two elements are focused on others. People born under these elements are introverted, passive, and focused on security.

There are more things that can be brought into consideration when having an astrological report done, but the ones listed above the most important things to be considered. These have the most influence on a person’s life and gives them the most concrete and comprehensive look at their life and personality.
